Economics Project
Essential Question: What type of business should you develop in order to meet the economic and social demands of a 21st century market economy?
Objective: Upon analyzing key concepts of economics and examining the decisions of various successful entrepreneurs, students will work in teams to formulate and present a business plan that is suited to our 21st century global market economy.
Learning Goal: Students will develop and practice 21st century skills and apply their knowledge of economic principles to a real life situation by simulating the role of an entrepreneur/business owner.
21st Century Skills Addressed: Upon completion of this project, students will have display a high level of skill in the following criteria: collaboration, self-direction, and communication.
Common Core Standards Addressed:
RH 9-10.1 Read Closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.
RH 9-10.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including vocabulary describing political, social, or economic aspects of history/social science.
RH 9-10.6 Compare the point of view of two or more authors for how they treat the same or similar topics, including which details they include and emphasize in their respective accounts.WHST 9-10.6 Use technology, including the Internet, to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing products, taking advantage of technology’s capacity to link to other information and to display information flexibly and dynamically.

Requirements:
- Work with a teacher assigned team to create a business plan
- Business Plan Packet (turned in on day of presentation)
- Interview an entrepreneur or business owner: Interview Directions & Questions Sheet
- Presentation of team business plan to the class via Google Drive. Include 1 artifact (video, poster, object)
